大原崇嘉、古澤龍、柳川智之の3人により2015年に結成され、色彩・視覚伝達の研究と視覚表現を行うグループ。絵画などの画面上の色の相互作用（ヴァルール）の研究を発露として生み出される新しい視覚表現は、いずれもイメージの成立状況に働きかけ、視知覚に亀裂をもたらす構造を持つ。
YOF, formed in 2015 by members of Takayoshi Ohara, Ryu Furusawa and Tomoyuki Yanagawa, is a group that conducts research on color and visual transmission and visual expression. New visual expressions that are produced as a result of studies of color interaction (Valeur) on a screen such as paintings have structures that work on the state of image formation and cause cracks in visual perception.
「ヴァルール」について | About “Valeur”
2013年より続けてきた《Valeur（ヴァルール）》シリーズは、イメージをピクセルの集合体として捉え、それらが視感覚に与える力の感覚量を定量化するためのプロジェクトである。
まず前提として、デジタルメディアにおいて全てのイメージはピクセルという単位で表現することができる。画面上にあるすべてのピクセルは「色」と「位置」という固有値を保持しており、全体の関係性の中で相互的な力を持っている。1つのピクセルの変化が与える影響は微々たるものだが、それらの集合が次第に大きな力を持つことで全体の印象を形成していく。我々は、その力の正体であるヴァルール（色価）こそがイメージを構成する上で最も重要な要素であると考えており、また独自のアルゴリズムによって定量化する事を可能とした。
The 《Valeur》 series, ongoing since 2013, is a project that examines images as aggregations of pixels, seeking to quantify the effects they have on the viewer’s sense of sight.
We assume that all images in digital media can be expressed in units called pixels. Each of the pixels in the image retains its own values for color and location, and each has a reciprocal power within the interrelationships of the whole. The effect imparted by a change in a single pixel may be insignificant, but as changes accumulate, they gradually take on a larger power to mold the impression of the whole. We believe that the true identity of that power—that is, the valeur, or color value—is the most important factor in shaping the image, and we have made it possible to quantify that power with an algorithm of our own creation.
